New Year, Kinda Sorta New Me
Happy New Year, everyone!
I've been so busy the last month or so with three jobs (what?!) and tons of holiday travel (yep..) that I had little time to think about what to make for dinner let alone an awe-inspiring blog post. Tsk, tsk. But hey, it's a brand new year and I want to start a little differently this time around.
This week, my social media feeds have been absolutely flooded with New Year, New Me posts. So naturally I started thinking about my own year in review. Needless to say, it was an interesting 12 months, but I became super motivated and kept almost all of my resolutions! Talk about a self five.
But for 2014, I want to challenge myself to a new way of thinking about being better. I think a lot of what we want to change in ourselves is connected, so why not start with the things we've already achieved and go from there? For every resolution I kept in 2013, I'm going to work towards a similar goal for 2014.
Building block resolutions! Who's with me?
In 2013, I....
- quit smoking
- started exercising 4 days a week
- learned how to eat clean
- started writing a novel (2 chapters down!)
- created this blog and a brand for myself
- learned to play piano
In 2014, I will try to....
- drink less alcohol, keeping it to weekends only
- exercise 6 days a week with more stretching and meditation on rest days
- eat mostly vegetarian/vegan meals and buy more organically
- write 5+ more chapters
- publish a new blog post every week
- play more music with Ben and start a Youtube channel for our duets
Voila! Easier said than done? We shall see...
What are your 2014 resolutions? Are they a lot like last year's or maybe totally different? Either way, I challenge you to think of at least one thing to build off of from last year and work towards it. Remember, no goal is too big or too small. Just try to take self-improvement one day at a time. You've got 365 of them, after all.
